How it started
A real problem. A real solution.
Every detail of SimchaMap was shaped by the experience of planning a real simcha — and feeling completely overwhelmed.
When I started planning my son's bar mitzvah, I was excited. This was one of the most meaningful milestones our family would ever celebrate — a moment years in the making. But within days of getting started, the excitement gave way to something else entirely: overwhelm.
"Where do I even begin? Who do I call first? How far in advance do I need to book everything?"
I didn't know where to start. I had no idea which vendors to trust, what questions to ask, or even what order to book things in. Do you lock in the hall before the caterer? Do you book the photographer before you set the date? Every conversation led to three more questions I hadn't thought to ask.
I found myself juggling dozens of browser tabs, asking friends for recommendations, and spending hours on the phone — all while trying to hold down a job, manage a household, and actually enjoy the journey of watching my son prepare for this incredible moment. It felt like planning a simcha had become a second full-time job.
That's when the idea hit me. Why isn't there one place — a single destination — where a Jewish family can find everything they need for a simcha? Not just a list of vendors, but a real guide. Something that tells you what to book, when to book it, and who to call.
So I built it. SimchaMap is the resource I wish I had when I was staring at a blank piece of paper wondering how to make my son's bar mitzvah everything it deserved to be.
